Replace in this scope is not supported

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Entered 'something' in 'Find what'
2. Entered 'replacement' in 'Replace with'
3. Selected "Directory include sub-folder" in Options
4. Selected 'All Documents in Directory'
5. Click "Replace All"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected the replacement to be applied to all files under the given directory.

Instead I get the message 'Replace in this scope is not supported'

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.5.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Maybe it's not a bug, and this has not been implemented yet, but I hope it 
works, not only for opened documents.

As you say, it's not a bug. It's not implemented because i don't find a good 
method to replace in documents that are not opened. In fact, it's recommended 
to review the replacements before saving  them, because there are no guarantee 
that the plugin won't destroy your documents.

There's no plan to implement the "replace all documents in directory" feature 
because i don't want to implement a "replace all" feature that can not be 
"undo".

This sort of defeats the reason to have the "advanced find/replace" in the 
first place. I just thought I could start use gedit again.

Agree with the two previous posters.
For me this was the single reason to download the plugin: to be able to find 
replace in multiple documents, opened or not (in directories).

Agree with previous three posters. no reason for me to use this plugin. 

Are there any plugins that will do what we want (without the misleading title?).

While not the solution for all cases, it would be useful the option to open all 
files matching the search and then apply the replacement to open files.

Like most people here, directory scope replace was the whole reason I 
downloaded and installed this "advanced" plugin.  I was in a huge rush and 
instead of helping this just wasted my time.   I feel betrayed.

There is an easy fix for this. 

Why doesn't the advanced plugin just open the files with changes to be made in 
new tabs. The files will automatically be saved so once it's done you can 
simply close gedit, or you can look through each file to see the changes made.

It would be a luxury to have all the words replaced be highlighted.

This way the plugin will actually do what people think it does.

I suggest give a warning before replace or ... copy file to backup folder and 
then replace
