Weekly Sync - Monday 27 May
These were the discussion topics:
General presentation of the new project specs
[ ] New game mechanics, namely the "mana generator" using GPS data and whether that would be feasible by November testnet release. Action point: Kicking this a little down the road for now.
[ ] Usage of predefined zones as means to ensure safety and gather marketing interest (ex. side events could be interested in sponsoring their own zone in order to quite literally draw attendees to their doorstep). Action point: ZP will probe around but is postponing actual movement until EthCC at least
[ ] Battle system and the interactive vs non-interactive approach. Action point: the non-interactive approach will be kept, just as Zac suggested some time ago
[ ] Randomness and oracles and how reliable they would have to be for a first version. Action point: not a big deal and shouldn't be a blocking issue
[ ] Educational content and target audience, as Devcon attendance is purposefully technical and wants to see the behind-the-scenes. Action point: the team plans to add educational info about Aztec and "what's happening now" in loading screens and etc
[ ] Grant amount and timeline. Action point: ZP will reach out to Arnaud to make sure this could be delivered
Other action points:
Kicking off Froglin! I'll use this issue to keep track of where we are in regards to this roadmap. I may spin off into its own Project Board if Peter and Vlad want to.
Team
Team is:
For a nice intro porfolio, here's something they've been doing in the past months
Goal
The original Notion doc is no longer relevant, as the team has picked up their own planning and specs. This is by design, as the original spec and code was meant to serve as guidance.
Here's the proposed plan (restricted access, reach out to me or @catmcgee for any specific info that could be in there). Main goal is to showcase gaming on Aztec via a MMOG inspired on Goblin/Frog thematic.
Deliverables
The goal is to deliver:
Purpose of Grant
The Aztec grant is delivered as a bootstrapper, as the game specs are quite clear on what could be the selling points and the strategy for user acquisition.
In any case, "success" means that the game becomes reproducible in other events, is fully autonomous, scalable, and a first-of-its-kind gamedev shop is born out of it.
Aztec >< Froglin Relationship
The POC for this project is me.
