customEvents table not available directly in log analytics workspace. #6

Minimal steps to reproduce

I can query the custom table "customEvents" from the application insights logs tab but not from the log analytics workspace itself. Is that the expected behaviour. It is my understanding that app insights uses the log analytics to store the logs so I'm confused as to why I can only see the table in the app insights log tab.

Any log messages given by the failure

'table' operator: Failed to resolve table expression named 'customEvents'

Expected/desired behavior

customEvents table to be available directly in the log analytics workspace.

OS and Version?

Windows 7, 8 or 10. Linux (which distribution). macOS (Yosemite? El Capitan? Sierra?) Windows 10
