[Feature] Support Windows Server 2025 #4447

Windows Server 2025 boasts advanced features that improve security, performance, and flexibility. With faster storage options and the ability to integrate with hybrid cloud environments, managing your infrastructure is now more streamlined. Windows Server 2025 builds on the strong foundation of its predecessor while introducing a range of innovative enhancements to adapt to your needs. For more information on the new LTSC option, see "What's new in Windows Server 2025".

AKS currently supports Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022 for LTSC options. These are planned to retire in 2026 and 2027 and customers will need Windows Server 2025 support on AKS.

Update: Feature work not yet started, moving to planned. Targeting preview by Jan 2025.

Are there any plans for supporting hyper-v with server 2025? (-> https://github.com/Azure/AKS/issues/1792) Would be nice to upgrade the nodepool and keep running the "old" images to update them afterwards step by step. Otherwise a second nodepool is needed to support an app-wise migration...
