During the recent years Azure switched the way we can communicate with the platform from CL twice. The deploy script is using the old Azure Service Management Module.
An upgrade to the wider supported Azure CLI might be worth a consideration to move towards platform independency on the developers side.
In my case I can compile the Package within cooperate Infrastructure, but the deploy has to happen on a Remote (Ubuntu) VM. (We will work around this issue, but I think this issue might have a place here)
