Dear Azure Policy Extension Maintainers,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my appreciation for the valuable work you are doing in maintaining and developing the Azure Policy VSCode extension. This shows great promise in improving the developer experience related to streamlining policy management and development.

The development of the Azure Policy VSCode extension is currently managed in ADO, there is no open-source repository on GitHub that I as a user of this extension can use to create issues or provide feedback. Since you already have this repository set up, I would like to request that a new label is added here to collect issues related to the extension.

Perhaps in the future you can consider moving the repository of the extension to the open source so people like me are also able to contribute to the development of the extension.

Here are some key reasons for this request:

  1. Issue Tracking: Having the project on GitHub would allow users like myself to create and track issues related to the extension. This would provide a more structured approach to addressing bugs and feature requests.
  2. Community Contributions: Open-sourcing the project would enable third-party developers to contribute to the extension's development. This could lead to more rapid improvements, innovative features, and an overall richer extension ecosystem.
  3. Feedback and Collaboration: By hosting the project on GitHub, you can facilitate direct feedback from users who are actively engaged with the extension. This would not only help in prioritizing features but also in gathering diverse insights that can drive the extension's evolution.
  4. Transparency: Open-source development offers greater transparency, allowing users to understand the extension's development process and engage with it more effectively.

I believe that transitioning the Azure Policy VSCode extension to an open-source project on GitHub would significantly benefit both the maintainers and the broader community. It would foster a more collaborative environment and ensure the extension continues to meet the needs of its users effectively.

Thank you for considering this request. I am eager to hear your thoughts and am willing to assist in any way I can to support this transition.
