In the initial implementation the main window was never shown if an update was
initiated. Some further changes must have influenced that behavior. Since the
updater respawns the process we don't want it to happen after the user enters
some data and potentially runs the computation.

Yeah, I think it makes more sense for the main window to never be shown. The
user doesn't want to start working on a build and then suddenly have the
program quit on them.
