@cinnamoner I don't think I have read/write access, or at least it doesn't look like it on this issue
@cinnamoner Nope, anyways... Along with the issue...
but you had one, remember?
@Elbullazul I think he means one that has the smaller buttons of Vista Aero (Yep, they were SMALLER than 7's) and goes opaque on maximise...
of what I know plasma doesn't allow for different assets depending on maximized/unmaximized state of window
@cinnamoner Erm, what Halo asset? Where? I don't think I'll be able to find it myself, sorry, but you may need to...
@cinnamoner you might want to be more precise next time :smile:
maybe I'll do it when I have time
@cinnamoner Sorry to post this here, but are you going to still be on Hangouts, even if it's only 1:1 chat?? Also, for the hype: https://github.com/feren/ferenOSProjectUpdates/issues/3
@cinnamoner I'll be more busy than ever in the coming month! please have patience
@cinnamoner The @kdesysadmin account is an administrative account only - it simply reflects pushes made to KDE's repositories hosted on git.kde.org. You'll need to contact the actual author of the commit as contained in the commit metadata to find out what the status of Smaragd is.
Please note that Script Kiddy scripty@kde.org is an automated process and doesn't reflect development activity.
Smaragd supports all Emerald decorations. Do you have a link to a theme that does not work?
See https://kdepepo.wordpress.com/2016/12/23/smaragd-for-plasma-5/
For actual names of the devel packages, please ask in a forum of your distribution.
It looks pretty good to me. When I get back to KDE I will be checking it out Thanks
@cinnamoner I just ran out of stuff to do :D
maybe I'll do it this week (have almost all thursday off)
@cinnamoner I wish man, I wish...
virtualbox crashed and all my VMs are dead. I'll try next week with qemu
@cinnamoner @Elbullazul The header on GitHub got a revamp!
@cinnamoner I'm getting started...
damn qemu won't let me install Neon :rage:
installed vmware but I'm busy today, sorry
:)
@cinnamoner I don't know, I have pending work for college and when I get home I'd rather rest my hands, elsewise they begin to hurt a bit
nest week is march break, so maybe I'll get started
The Aurorae engine is based on QML script interpreter and SVG parsing/rendering, which is more resource hungry than Smaragd, which uses the Cairo library directly from C++.
But I don't understand the 200 MiB comment. If you already have Plasma 5 with KWin installed, then Smaragd only needs an additional 0.25 MiB plus the space for the extracted theme file.
I've just replied to your KDE forum post at https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=309&t=138660 Please post any error message there. We will struggle through it, until you get it working.
@cinnamoner
You might entirely dislike what I'm trying to achieve here: proof of concept that Smaragd works.
I have no opinion of that one way or the other . . . completely indifferent to it.
Happen to know "the actual names of the devel packages"?
Not at all. I have no experience with Smaragd in development or even usage.
In the meantime I'm switching over to the KDE forum
That is the best place for KDE discussions both in general and for help.
Michael, this probably one of the most absurd threads you've ever seen.
Nah, that would have to be the thread that had over 800 comments. Hard to top that one.
However, If you could direct me to those packages, that would be great. Ignore the Windows theming should it cause nausea
No ability to direct you. Windows doesn't bother me. If it did then I wouldn't have offered assistance to the Windows 10 themes in the first place. :)
Also install "extra-cmake-modules", then try again to build it.
I need the complete Konsole output of cmake and make steps to check what is the error.
Are you a Windows guiy? With Linux, you never reinstall. In worst case, you delete configuration files in your home directory, but reinstalling packages is only required, if you were installing broken packages in the first place.

None of the packages seemed broken to me. It's either something missing or I've made an error in the terminal.
Perhaps consider doing this in a Virtual Machine. You could create snapshots of the VM and then refresh them as many times as you want to start over with installing stuff.
Do you think Neon would be reluctant to have Smaragd natively?
KDE Neon supports it natively already . . . I think you mean "by default" rather than "natively" and in that case I doubt they would do that since most themes don't use it as a dependency.
@cinnamoner I don't know, but Sudo Reboot seems to be having A LOT of issues with KDE right now (Manjaro KDE) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZf9AFQbKZs
@feren

No, he doesn't. He has problems with Manjaro's implementation. There is a VERY BIG difference between having an issue on KDE Neon vs an issue on Manjaro.
@MichaelTunnell Fair point, but from the looks of the views of people in chat, no one seems to really like KDE all that much, including Don't Call Me Lenny... I really don't know, personally, I've always found myself going back to Cinnamon...

That's a total of 25 people so that means nothing. I use KDE Plasma by the way so by me being in the chat breaks the "no one" thing. :)
Ok, I'll shut up now about this issue to make sure it doesn't get too off topic here, since this is afterall a proper issue, but like I said, I always seem to go back to Cinnamon when I've tried KDE...
@cinnamoner Sorry breaking my promise, but, have you tried out this? Looks accurate: https://store.kde.org/p/1167950/
@cinnamoner ...that's if you want an Ubuntu theme, that is
@cinnamoner you know I had to reset my system, and most VMs are lost, and I kind of need a small break from working on this project (not stopping, just a short break on development).
I seriously can't give a projected date on when I can get on this. But I will, eventually...
cool ;D
@cinnamoner Is the lack of transparency in the preview a glitch, or just the theme on SmaraGD?
@cinnamoner *Life (Can't remember the full name of it) and Win2-7 Emeralds
@cinnamoner The theme I don't know the name of has neat looking outlines on it, and the window buttons look like the symbol only parts of Windows 7 Aero's Caption Buttons with a white glow on hover...
If you are using transparent themes, I suggest to enable the Blur desktop effect. Needs a working OpenGL driver, though.
@MichaelTunnell I'm not aware of any front-end in Plasma 5.8.x to do that. Are you?
To do what? I am not watching this thread.
@cinnamoner Isn't it in the KWin Extensions bit of Settings?
@cinnamoner Erm, you could've just changed it in System Settings you know...
