Ubuntu 19.10 Unity: Odd gray border around top panel menu #88

There is an odd gray border around the top panel menu,

I am not sure whether its a design decision or not, but I am guessing, it is intended to be fully white ?

System

Ubuntu: 19.10 (also in 18.04) Desktop Shell: Unity 7.5

I don't have much experience with GTK css theme editing, so I'm unable to suggest a fix in code 💡.

p.s. really like your theme, thanks for the great work.

@nightBulb hello, sorry for answering a bit late.

I think I can fix this pretty easily. However, I'm not shure how to install unity on 19.10. Is it just apt install unity-desktop ?

nightBulb commented 4 years ago

@Elbullazul Hello, np with the delay, I'm just glad you are maintaining Unity Version :+1:

I followed this askubuntu answer when I was at Ubuntu 18.04, then I continued to Update the system (till 19.10).

sudo apt install ubuntu-unity-desktop should still work with Ubuntu 19.10.

p.s. I use LightDM display manager to select alternate shell.

Greetings @Elbullazul,

I updated/pulled from the last commit 3c89eaa,

there is still a grayish border around that menu.

It is most clearly visible when opened over a bright background, such as over Files application.

It is almost invisible over a color background.

have a working space and confirmed the issue, will address in the coming weeks

Elbullazul commented 3 years ago

It appears it's the way Unity handles transparent backgrounds that causes this issue. Tried a couple of things, but couldn't achieve anything.

I'd recommend using the gtk-solid.css file and renaming it to gtk.css
