it's hard to follow what is happening when files are processed, and it makes it hard to debug when it fails. so far it has been working fine as long as there is nothing out of the ordinary but when it fails i have to shoot in the dark until i find the problem.
solutions:
simplify filecheck logic?
see where code can be reused or deleted
try to diagram all the actions that take place step by step
see if there are spots where logic relies on file/folder names that are too specific
loosen date restrictions
images fail on dates that really are ok enough (eg 2017-1-8 instead of 2017-01-08)
