After a very long process of upscaling and improving all the planet textures to make them look as good as possible, it's finally finished. This was by far the most complex and lengthy upscaling project I've ever started.
It's unfortunate to say that I'm not really satisfied with all the results. Though most of the new planets look great and are good replacements for the ones we previously had. However, the other ones simply don't meet my expectations in terms of overall appearance. We might have to consider replacing them with the previous versions, or something else...
One thing that might make the planets look better is to make the edges of the alpha maps smoother. Also the detailmap opacity for gas planets should be a bit less. And maybe also get rid of the water/air detailmaps, or make it way less sharp.
You should toss up some screen caps so we can have a look.
Thoughts @Drakohen?
I like these.
I've made the following changes to the new planet textures:

With these changes applied, I must say I'm a bit more satisfied with how the new planets look overall.
@erikroe, you may want to include the updated planet textures in FL:SR too.
I think the current planet textures are good enough.
Some of the planet textures we currently use look very different from the originals. We should consider replacing them with textures that resemble the originals more.
