Freelancer: HD Edition is a mod that aims to improve every aspect of the game Freelancer (2003) while keeping the look and feel as close to vanilla as possible.
We've received some reports from players who can't complete the race against Hovis. In most cases this is because they're using the Go-to maneuver (F2), which actually pushes them away from the gates. Clearly, you're meant to just use your cruise engines during the race (Shift + W). However, some new players may not know the difference between all the maneuvers very well.
To mitigate this, we should modify the text in the message dialog that you see right before the race start. This way we can add a small hint to make sure the player will not use F2, but rather Shift + W. I'd highly recommend copying the existing text string and putting a modified version of it in controls.dll (our custom resource DLL). This way users who play the mod in other languages will see the hint too.
