An additional thing to keep in mind: Such fixes may even go further for anything more wide-stretched than 16:9. On my 24:10 it does make sometimes cut off the entire landing pad and ship on planet-side.
I think 48:9 (3x 16:9) is a good maximum aspect ratio that should be taken into account when applying the fixes.
Currently we use a patch that changes the camera positions in the planetscape scripts to ensure that no clipping can be seen in 16:9. This isn't the perfect solution since it cuts off the top and bottom parts of the planetscape view. Therefore, we should fix the actual planetscapes by adding terrain, patching up holes in buildings, etc.
