Sometimes opening a thumbnail to a larger image doesn't provide enough context for the user to understand what they are looking at. For example, opening a page when only one part of the page is interesting leaves the user in a sea of off-white.
Describe the solution you'd like
The user should click on a thumbnail and see a larger image focused on the relevant part of the thumbnail image. It can be a full image zoomed-in or just a fragment of the larger image.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Our IIIF viewer (Mirador) could do this, but it would take the user out of the context of the exhibit. It would also require creating manifests and adding images to the IIIF server.
