Consider how we want to represent parameters with the new changes coming to the parameter conceptual model with the work @jsaunders and @kblumberg are doing.

Commenting to add that the ICPSR parameter (or variable search) focuses more on submitter-provided metadata to be searched, rather than data manager entered data. This helps shape search results so they show all of the ways in which a concept is represented in present variables. So for the cat example linked above, related parameters could be "type of cat," "age of cat," "do you have a pet?," etc. (note: the data stored in ICPSR is predominately social science and policy-related survey response data.)
