Allow 80s style elements to look vintage #3764

When using the 80s style, most elements are modern. I personally disagree with this, as it is never seen in the game that stuff was already modern and because it simply doesn't fit. I suggest adding a stylevar for this. If possible, there would be a separate setting for each testing element (example: cubes, floor buttons, etc) to choose between modern and old. This would help to make levels with a design that makes more sense to the game, such as modern cubes with old buttons, for example.

The cubes, buttons, and indicator lights being modern is based on this poster from 80s Aperture: img_2329 Turrets are also modern to reflect how Aperture is now working on robots, I think that's mostly it?

I see. Still though, I'd like to see it added. If possible, of course.

They appear on posters, sure, but in the actual game, they kinda just look bad. I understand that there was only one 80s test chamber in the entire game, and there isn't much to go off of, but I think the old elements should still be used simply because it looks better.

1980s is kinda the bridge between art therapy and old aperture though. It needs to have a slice of both sides :/

HeimlichLaboratories commented 3 years ago

All I'm asking is a setting to change it, not removing it entirely..

HeimlichLaboratories commented 3 years ago

By the way, maybe there could be another option to keep modern looking elements in 50s to 70s style too.

Oh hey, I've made up a concept for the stylevar page. image
