Issues addressed by this PR

Closes #90

This only creates a stub of Markdown Adapter, copying the logic used for the TTL Adapter; further logic will be implemented in a dedicated issue/PR. Some tidy up was done to misplaced functions.

Test files

Unit tests should all still run.
