We have experimented a lot for this index, I need to refactor all the experiments to still be linked to the issues they are addressing, while also being easy to read and understand. I did a lot of copy and pasting to go from one version of the code to the next in order to address the task and there are lots of duplicate functions we can move away or reformat.

The structure I've found with this refactor is great and I should follow it for the next milestones
