Branding and motivations #5

About

How do we brand ourselves? Is "Reproducibility Ambassadors" the best name? How do we want to present ourselves? There will be several different audiences with different motivations for collaboration with this project.

  1. The ambassadors
  2. The lab / working group environments
  3. Funding Agencies

Is there a way to form a cohesive brand that unifies all these audiences? Or are the motivations of each of these audiences so different that this causes a problem. The exercise and discussion here is to identify the motivations of each of these three groups. We have a lot of information in the Previous Meeting Notes and Detailed Project Description to get started. Please add from the notes or include new ideas.

Due Date

Maybe someone could assign themselves to organizing all the information and present to the group at the next Reproducibility Working Group Meeting.

What about using the word synchronize? Like BIDs Synchronize: Bringing the community to computational reproducibility. Corny?

There are a lot of "ambassador" projects and the word reproducibility is triggering.

I do like the Synchronize idea. I think the marketing strategy should NOT be that we're going to go into labs and teach them things. I think of it more as everyone is learning - we learn about their challenges and tools, they learn what tools and strategies that we know about to address their challenges.

I think we should really emphasize the output part. Everyone gets excited about publications! By participating, the labs we visit aren't the only ones learning. They actually become part of helping teach those who eventually read our book/paper.
