@weotch another consideration for you. I can't think of a site we would build that wouldn't need some sort of scroll locking, like modals, mobile menu, cart flyout, etc.

Up to you though, just thought I would propose it here.

Gonna close this one, I think what we'll end up doing is building @cloak-app/* modules that add UI that has a dependency on body-scroll-lock. For instance, @cloak-app/cart
