Note to alter the theme layout so I can add explanatory text to the homepage (currently set as Maps) or make a new homepage.

I've switched on the 'Simple Pages' plugin, which will let us add in 'About', etc type pages. We can then edit the seasons mainpage (I hope!) to fill in the rest. There might be another way to change the frontpage, I'll keep looking through the docs.
