Logbook Form Investigation #426

Open emilyTWorks opened 1 year ago

emilyTWorks commented 1 year ago

Background: Trips and log books represent the last 2 paper forms.

Trips (formerly known as effort) is a record of the day. Who went out, which boat, and where they went. It includes a summary of the encounters & logbook entries and some key metrics for the day (distance covered, conditions etc)

The logbook is currently a handwritten notebook which is taken out onto the boat to record, at 30-minute intervals, the conditions being encountered.

This is burdensome and hard to analyse. Often, the log book will not be transposed into the MS Access database despite it containing valuable data due to the manual pain involved in doing so.

We want to fix this so in this ticket we want to investigate and create a solution for the MVP. For this spike to be marked as complete, we would need a full solution description, pros and potential drawbacks of the suggested solution, and finally to communicate this to Charlotte before implementation is complete. The MVP is detailed below:

MVP (the very thinnest slice that can be built to complete the user journey)

The previous team created this mural which will be helpful in this investigation for potential effort form stories: https://app.mural.co/invitation/mural/thoughtworksclientprojects1205/1658485030752?sender=u3cc89491750dce6cd5621603&key=916e6445-a3db-4b72-8173-a7f8c92fd7e3
