Unable to connect to internet on Windows 11 #5665

Describe the bug Unable to connect to internet on Windows 11

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install boinc on Windows 11.
  2. Open BOINC Manager to add projects.
  3. Add project failed because of internet connection issue.

Expected behavior BOINC Manager should be able to connect to internet.

Hello @danielsun3164, thank you for the report. Are you able to connect to https://google.com from your browser? Are you using any kind of VPN/proxy/etc? Is your windows up-to-date (all available updates installed)?

Are you able to connect to https://google.com from your browser? Yes, I can connect to https://google.com from my browser.

Are you using any kind of VPN/proxy/etc? No. I connect to internet directly.

Is your windows up-to-date (all available updates installed)? Yes. There is no more updates in Windows Update.

Are you using any third-party anti-virus software that might include a firewall - e.g. Norton 360? No. I just use Windows Defender as the only anti-virus software.

@danielsun3164, usually this error shows that someone intercepted the secure connection. Could you please navigate to https://google.com in your browser and check the certificate issuer (like shown in the video)?

@AenBleidd Here is the screenshot of https://google.com on chrome. image I am using a Japanese Windows so it is in Japanese.

@danielsun3164, according to the information on your screenshot, you have installed software from Digital Guardian Inc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Guardian) and looks like this software intercepts all connections, and thus invalidates the certificate. You can add boinc.exe to the exceptions in this software or add manually to the exception list the servers which BOINC tries to connect to.
