DISTANCE KEEPING #12

When the distance to the car in front is less than the minimum required safety distance (2 second distance) the cruise control system should initiate the braking process. The smaller the distance to the car in front, the more the vehicle should slow down to keep a safe distance.

Test: Test car is driving behind another car which executes unpredictable maneuvers (sudden breaking /acceleration, gradually slowing down / accelerating), the curise control should react to the movements in a safe and smooth matter, meaning that it should not get closer to the car than the 2 second distance and the driver should not feel any abrupt changes in acceleration. To measure the distances the test track may be equipped with LIDAR sensors.
