This was a suggestion from Sam Baxter, and seems like something we could implement without too much work. These would be pre-assembled links for searching pubmed / Google for a variant, given names by which the variant may appear. Sample searches include:
In human-readable terms, this involves searching for the gene symbol AND many representations of the variant. The representations include: the HGVS suffix minus the leading c. (150G>A), syntax variations (1505G->A, 1505G-->A, 1505G/A), the position only (1505G), the protein HGVS minus the leading p. (Arg502Gln), the protein position (Arg502), the one-letter amino acid code (R502Q), and the one-letter position (R502).
