Expected: DKOK Plasma Gun Trooper should only have Plasma Gun

This is correct per the data sheet. The bullet point says a Trooper can be equipped with a plasma gun, not that it replaces his lasgun. See the wording of the 1st bullet point for the difference.

@Mad-Spy I believe you are mistaken. On both the Index and the Official Warhammer 40k App, the wording is "1 Death Korps Trooper's Lasgun can be replaced with one of the following: [...] - 1 plasma gun." Furthermore, it is the behavior enforced by the Official App. I did not find anything contradicting this in the Balance Dataslate, and there is no Guard Codex FAQ.

Also, the 17/09 date is just when the new website launched, regardless of the date the files were actually updated.

Oh ye, I have the same as you in the Index I downloaded way back when, but I never look at it ^^. I agree with your interpretation of the old datasheet, but it's simply outdated.

No idea when the change occurred, can't find an errata or anything except for the (wrong, as you said) update date.
