Creative mode feature: make bonemeal able to instagrow crops/trees #309

Older versions allowed bonemeal to grow saplings, but this is no longer possible.

Can you specify which old versions you are referring to, and what behavior you are expecting?

That's not what I meant. What old versions, as in what previous version did you see this behavior in (not the current one), and what did you expect to happen that does not happen currently?

Confirmed by Ce2.01.Moreover, you can grow saplings without consuming any bonemeal.

I think I recall seeing his youtube video about this, the way I understand it is that bonemealing a tree in creative mode made them grow instantly in his previous playthroughs which were pre-CE. Guessing the sapling change disbaled that instagrow ability. Purely speculating here as ive never tried bonemealing a tree and i would have guessed that FC would have removed that if it was possible.. but maybe he didnt remove it for creative? Haha

Ce Ver2.01 it was possible to grow seedlings by using bonemeal on them.

If it was ever possible to grow saplings instantly by applying bonemeal then that should have been considered a bug. That is not intended behavior. If that was what you were seeing, but are no longer seeing, then this can be closed as already fixed.

huh interesting. It looks to me the bonemeal never really worked, got disabled by FC. but it still forced an OnUpdate(). so if you clicked it with bonemeal often enough it would grow faster at least :) ( every update a tree use to have 1/64 or maybe bit higher chance to progress to next stage)

That is no longer possible because saplings now need night cycles to grow. so just giving them extra updates will not grow them faster anymore. They work like wheat, day to grow, night to rest

the bug was actually that clicking a sapling with bonemeal forces an update! was not intended.

However, growing trees instantly might be something we will add to Creative mode in the future, since we want to support creative mode

Huh that's really strange. But yeah could be worth adding functionality to creative mode.

got it. I misunderstood that it was written that bone meal can be used in the update history, so I misunderstood that it was a bug that bone meal could not be used in the latest version, sorry.
