Fix for 332 #336

332 is still occurring. This PR extends the test case to show an event being dropped.

Edit to add: now this PR also includes the fix.

Adding a comment because I don’t know if the edits above generated notifications. tl;dr this is now a fix for the event dropping issue, not just a test case.
