The Task
Badger currently has a number of graphs running on thegraph, but we maintain them mostly for our own internal purposes. We are often asked by the community in #development on the badger main discord to update/make changes to the graph, but we do not have a team dedicated to subgraph upkeep and supporting subgraph users.
This bounty is to consult with the community in Our Community Discord , figure out what they are looking for in a subgraph and provide it. The subgraph should be Opensource and also hosted on thegraph. It should have good documentation about how to use it, and how to request/submit changes.
Here are examples of the graphs we currently use internally and others sometimes ask about: https://github.com/Badger-Finance/badger-subgraph (fork of yearn subgraph) https://github.com/axejintao/badger-dao (built from scratch)
The Bounty
3000 USD in Badger will be paid to the winner, an additional 1000 USD in Badger will be paid in 2 months if the subgraph is still up and supported. We will further provide grant matching in future rounds to on a grant to maintain it, and remind our community to donate if they value your work. 750 USD in Badger will be paid to up to 2 runners up who have put in notable time. We will also match any grant you post to maintain said graphs.
Note that the 3000 USD bounty will only be paid to a usable, documented and well running subgraph that is easier for ecosystem developers to use than the currently published ones listed above and are fully up to date with all current badger products and smart contracts.
Hack-A-thon results will be decided by the Council of Badgers along with guests from our last hack-a-thons @kilogold @GalloDaSballo and our resident economist @mrrpo. If there are multiple suggestions we may hold a vote in the #development discord channel to see what the community likes best.
We will highly encourage the winner to setup a gitcoin grant for further funding, and will ensure that it is well matched by badger in subsequent rounds. We would therefore prefer applications who are wailing to take a bit of time to maintain this subgraph going forward.
You can connect with our Developers for any clarification you may need on our Builder Discord
Badger Dev @axejintao has provided this example schema. Something like this would be helpful to many developers and would answer most of the questions he is often asked: https://hackmd.io/@ElS-qKWRRA-Eh0fa_T2YAw/badger-community-subgraph
