Hi BD,

I roll with the punches, yes it's catchy. I have a couple races coded up. If you want help with those I'll send them.

Oh, how is the side project coming along?

Cheers,

Unfortunately I have been unable to do any editing at all of late. I lost my job and started a new one. I also ha e a second job which severely limits my time to do anything. If I can find some time I would be happy to start working on stuff, I am not very good at it though.

Side projects are progressing at a decent pace. I could use a little help though. Any chance you can add a rule for displaying extras? This is a gamemode issue, and that's on your side.

I was thinking 'DisplayExtra'.

I'll take whatever you can send my way.

Thanks mate!

Hi BD,

I'll see what I can do. It'll be for 6.3+ though. Not going to mess with 6.2. I'm assuming this is for 35e.

The races are a bit old, only used a couple for a game I ran years ago, but you can have them.

Of course the caster level bonus only applies to spells per day and spells known for the sorceror. I fi could get that to work in Pcgen it would be grat right now I just added levels and then manually reduced hit points and skill points and so on.

Hi,

It's okay, it took me awhile to learn the lingo. He means do a Pull Request. You have your repo, and you do a PR from his to yours. Then it brings in all the updates.

Not the easiest method, but it works.

That's making it more complicated. Just use git pull.

LegacyKing commented 10 years ago

Hi Joseph,

Doesn't git pull just grab from your own repo fork or does that get the upstream???

Thanks.

By default it will pull from the repository set as the remote for the current branch, but you can pull from any by specifying it: git pull upstream master

Sounds like you might be better off just downloading the updated zip: https://github.com/BahamutDragon/pcgen/archive/master.zip

LegacyKing commented 10 years ago

Joseph, learn something new everyday. For TortoiseGIT the option listed by default is 'master' but if you switch to 'HEAD' it seems to act as upstream. Thanks.

BD - I sent the emailwith the races. Hope those work for you.

You foiled my plans to pile more work on you. When you have a moment, I need to chat with you.

Mate, you'll need both GIT and TortoiseGIT. GIT is the base program you need installed.

To pull from your repo -

https is https://github.com/aplechaty/pcgen.git ssh is git@github.com:aplechaty/pcgen.git and subversion is https://github.com/aplechaty/pcgen

or if you want to pull directly from my repo - git@github.com:BahamutDragon/pcgen.git

You want to make a folder on your hard drive to download the repo into, this is called cloning. Right click on the folder, Git Clone option (if using TortoiseGIT) enter the url of the above.

It will clone the copy right there.

Best,

The Draconic rite is not a feat it is a Kobold ritual that can be performed it is found on page 43. The greater Rite of Draconic Passage is in the errata.

Greater Draconic Rite of Passage The Greater Draconic Rite of Passage is a powerful ritual handed down from dragons to kobolds as a reward for their undying loyalty. In the same way that chromatic and metallic dragons gain integrated levels of sorcerer spellcasting as they age, this ritual allows kobolds to awaken a small amount of their own arcane might. Prerequisites:Only kobolds of 6 Hit Dice or more, sorcerer level 1st, who have successfully completed the Draconic Rite of Passage, and taken Draconic Reservoir (1) can undergo the Greater Draconic Rite of Passage. A kobold requires no one else to perform the rite; it is a solitary activity. (1) See below for feat description. Benefit:Upon completing this rite, a kobold gains new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known) as if also gaining one level in the sorcerer class. The kobold does not, however, gain any other benefit a sorcerer would have gained (familiar abilities, and so on). The benefit of this ritual is automatically factored into the 15 minutes that a kobold sorcerer spends concentrating to ready their daily allotment of spells. No kobold can benefit from this rite more than once. Time:A kobold who undergoes this rite must first endure nine days of fasting (the equivalent of three days for a kobold in a region above 40 degrees F). Immediately thereafter, the kobold must succeed on a DC 20 Concentration check to enter a deep trance that lasts for 24 hours. If the check fails, the rite must begin a new. Cost:This rite requires sacrificing a gem of at least 1,000 gp in value. The kobold also permanently loses 3 hit points upon completion of the rite, the price of unlocking latent draconic energy within their soul.

Can you add this feat as well from Kobolds errata?

Draconic Reservoir You can cast your Draconic Rite of Passage spell-like ability more often than normal. Prerequisite: Kobold, must have completed the Draconic Rite of Passage, 3 HD. Benefit: You can cast your 1st-level sorcerer spell-like ability gained from Draconic Rite of Passage 3/day. A kobold must complete the Searching for the Dragon meditation in order to recharge their spell-like ability, but does not have to increase the 15 minute duration for the additional castings.

Spent time researching this, searched for the last hour for errata, couldn't find it. It's actually the free web enhancement articles. Link: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a

I don't think Races of the Dragon has any errata mate. Just two web enhancement articles. By definition, at least for me, errata is the correction of existing materials. "on page #, Remove, replace, add, alter, etc." Web enhancement is an add-on to an existing source.

I have both the feat and new Rite in place. Pushing them in after I do a load test.

Thanks for that sorry about the confusion. I will download hte zip file again with the sources once you say it is up to date. One question where will i find the rituals so I can add them to my character within pcgen? Will they be under special abilities?

Also as another request I noticed that the Unearthed Arcana is not in the sources. Has any one asked for that source? Hopefully I can get more involved entering some data once things calm down with my jobs, if they calm down.

Thanks again for everything.

Another thought just struck me will taking those rituals in pcgen bump my caster level as far as spells known and spells per day as it is supposed to? Basically when i go into spells it should show me as having the spells known and per day of a level higher than i am.

Another great source is dragons of Eberron that has  Loredrake it also boosts caster level by +2 making even more spells known and per day if selected.

Powerful campaign and i am allowed to use these. So at 7th level my CL is 10 whe nit comes to spells known and spells per day.

PCGen has Unearthed Arcana in their release. As a general rule I avoid books that the pcgen team can do. Avoids duplicating effort

The Rituals will be a Summary Tab To-Do. You'll be presented with three options, No Ritual, Normal Ritual, and then the Greater Ritual. I figured it was the easiest method to get you to it. It will be under the Race subtab of Feats and Abilities.

I did implement the improved caster level items the greater ritual grants. Your SLA (Spell-Like Abilities) are very time consuming to put together. I put out only the PH spells that qualified.

Feats are not fully implemented yet. You'll notice it's just bare bones if you look at the code, all the descriptions and benefits are present, all the prereqs are just PRETEXT. Most books take about a month to create.

To get you contributing we'll need to get your repo in sync with mine. Something to sort out when you have the time. @Deledrius seems to be a good resource for getting your sorted out there if he's willing.

You can email me directly to prevent flooding this issue with side tangents. bahamutdragon2013@gmail.com

New source request should get it's own issue.

Best,

BahamutDragon commented 10 years ago

Okay, this book is pretty much done @aplechaty . Might be a few bonuses not implemented. If anyone finds something they would like included that isn't, raise another issue please.

Thanks mates!

Great job with this! Found a few issues with Dragonblood Sorcerer, one that I was able to fix (Drop of craft and profession skills, add UMD; pull request forthcoming, once I fork and commit my change), the other I can't seem to figure out what is going on. Looks like you added "Draconic Heritage" as an "ability", but that doesn't let me actually pick the "Draconic Heritage" feat without it taking up my one available feat. Is this a product of me using pcGen wrong, or is there something wrong with the "definition" of DbS? Thanks again for this!

edit: Scratch my "fix" for the skills, it ended up effecting any sorcerer. Do you know any way to fix that for only Dragonblood Sorcerers? (I had just added "CSKILL:.CLEAR.TYPE.Craft|.CLEAR.TYPE.Profession CSKILL:Use Magic Device" to the "CLASS:Sorcerer.MOD" line

BahamutDragon commented 10 years ago

Class skills are hard to work with Mate. It ends up being all or nothing in most cases, as you've no doubt discovered in your attempt to fix. You would need to push on the pcgen developers to fix the issue.

I can take a look at the implementation for the Draconic Heritage.

BahamutDragon commented 10 years ago

I think I might have a fix for the Class Skill issue.

digitalseraphim commented 10 years ago

Cool, very nice, I will also take a look at the pcgen code (I'm a code monkey, so maybe I can find a nice fix and do a PR)

BahamutDragon commented 10 years ago

Mate, my fix does not work for CSKILL. CSKILL does not work on SUBSTITUTION lines. If you can get that working, then the Substitution class will work.

Complete Arcane had a conflict using old methods (all feats and using ADD:FEAT), to workaround I have disabled this problem. When I have more leisure time, I will convert it to use the RDr method.

Draconic Heritage works now. Enjoy.

digitalseraphim commented 10 years ago

Very nice! thank you, worked like a charm. I will look into the CSKILL and SUBSTITUTION problem. Will let you know my results :^)

Not sure how you want to handle it, or if you think its more a pcgen bug instead, so we'll see, and if you want, I'll put a bug in for you if you want. The symptom that lead me to the problem deals with Bard skill points (and can potentially affect many other things). It turns out, that when the 3.5e Core is loaded (your data/35e/wizards_of_the_coast/core/_core_books.pcc) the files referenced from the pcc file are actually loaded out of the 3e directory instead of the 35e directory. It looks like this could be an easy fix by just adding 3e/35e to the beginning of all of the file paths, but I have not yet verified this. Currently, for my purposes, I just removed the 3e directory. To demostrate the issue, create a human bard character with all 10's for abilities. A 3.5e bard gets 6 skill points per level, so a human bard should get (6+Int)_4 +4 or in our sample case 28 skill points. Instead, what happens is you end up with 20 points. This turns out to be (4+Int)_4+4, which is what the 3e bard gets at first level.

Let me know how you want to fix this issue, or if you have trouble reproducing it.

And just as I was about to sign off, I remembered I had found another issue, and I'm not sure if I'm fixing it the right way. The Warforged race (and all the other eberron races) are lacking the "STARTFEATS:1" tag, as well as the "SIZE" tags for just Warforged and Shifter. There may be other things missing, as well, but that was what I had found so far.

Thanks again for all the work you've put into this! -DS

Enjoy.

Not bad, thank you for asking. Keeping busy with making books for the various systems. Plugging in fixes when necessary. Gaming group is taking a break, which freed up some time for other activities. Keeping an eye on the folks over at pcgen. Sounds like some big things are coming our way.

In regards to the 3e load concerns, I just tested that theory. As far as I can tell, the correct files are being loaded. No indication of corrupted loading. The Core File references is for files downstream, not upstream, it is a direct relationship reference. PCC:players_handbook/_players_handbook.pcc PCC:dungeon_masters_guide/_dungeon_masters_guide.pcc PCC:monster_manual/_monster_manual.pcc Can't jump to other folders.

_core_rules.pcc has the gamemode set to 35e, the 3rd edition version has 3e. It also has a different name (3e in the name).

To confirm proper file loading, I put a bad tag in ph abilities in the 35e file. Caught the error, which means it's loading the correct file.

It should be fine as long as the folder structure is intact. If users are altering the folder structure though, I cannot control that. That concern was one of the reasons for the direct relation link reference versus a fixed reference.

Skill Points issue - Halfling Bard Level 1, set Int to 10. Result is 1st level bard showing 24 skill points (24=6*4). Human tested comes back as 28. Seems to be correct there.

Regarding the rest though, best to make new issues tickets to keep it sane. Since nothing in your previous comment reflects the ticket for 'Races of the Dragon'. This poor issue tracker is extremely long.

Best, BD
