In the beta 6 version I deactivate AEC.
Logically, if you use headset or earphone, you shouldn't ear echo.

I was having the issue described (remote party hears echo) but it seems to be
resolved in the latest release, 2.01.
Can anyone else confirm this? Can we mark this as verified and close the issue?

I also have the latest version 20090104-1 and the remote party reports hearing
alot
of echo of their own voice. The only way to get around this issue is the turn
the
audio volume down where I can barely hear the remote party which is not a great
solution.

I don't know if the new features will resolve the issue. But in the next version
(2.0.3) it will be possible to enable/disable echo canceler and voice activity
detection.
When you will test, if the problem is not resolved, you will be able to reopen
the issue.

This still seems to be a problem in version 2.07 using gizmo5.com
(proxy01.sipphone.com) to provide the outbound call termination.
Problem goes away when turning the volume way down or using a headset, and is
not an
issue on my other sip phones (sipura spa3000 and others) suggesting this is not
a
service issue.
Thanks for reviewing!

I forgot to mention above that the state of the AEC switch in the settings
seems to
have little effect (a friend helping me test said that it sounded "a bit
better" but
still had significant echo with it in the "on" position.

I'm running siphon 2.1.0 through a gizmo5/googlevoice connection on an ipod
touch.
When I use the built in speaker the echo of the other side back to itself is
awful.
Setting the aec option doesn't seem to make any difference.
I can't compare with any other voip applications. since this is the only one I
have
that can enable the speaker on a touch when a microphone is plugged in.
