Google Voice on Nokia E71(built in SIP on Symbian) w/sipgate #70

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Any dial in or dial out using Nokia E71 built in SIP Client

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am not sure. If I use Fring, it works.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using a Nokia E71 w/ 410.21.010

Please provide any additional information below.
I have a google voice number along with a sipgate number and have created a
sipsorcery account. I am using the simple dial plan. I can get my Nokia E71 to
place calls with fring, but I cannot get it to place calls using the built in
SIP settings. I have followed the following guide:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1644068-FREE-calls-on-WLAN-with-Googl
e-Voice-SIPGate-and-Sipsorcery

I have even installed the advanced SIP setting but it still doesn't work.
Sipsorcery shows the phone binding and even shows the attempted calls. I have
tried both inbound and outbound and it doesn't work. Out bound never rings the
line. Inbound rings my phone but when I anser, it hangs up in about a second.
The call logs show an "Status" of "0" for outbound with the "Hungup Reason" of
"Client cancelled". For inbound calls it shows "Status" of "487" with "Answer
Reason" of "requestterminated".

Any ideas???? Thanks in advance!

Hey, thanks for opening a ticket. That's an interesting page and guide. My
first thought was that you probably need to configure a proxy server in your
SIP client, but the page you referenced has those details included. When I
first started playing with all this stuff I was using a Nokia N810 and I seem
to recall it not working quite right until I found a good proxy server to use.

Also, have you tried using your E71 in a variety of network configurations?
When a call is killed almost immediately after it is established, it could be
indicative of your provider detecting that you are using VoIP and killing your
calls to stifle competition. I believe Fring tunnels their voice data so it may
be more difficult for providers to detect your activity. A little bit "tinfoil
hat", I know, but I had issues with Nokia until I entered a proxy server and it
looks like you have.

Thank you for the reply. I did setup a proxy following the guide in my Nokia
E71's SIP client. I am trying to connect using my home wifi. I don't have a
data plan on my phone so for now, I plan on just using it at home. I wasn't
sure if maybe I have to configure my router or cable modem to open the port
used by VOIP. I guess I need to try it using another wifi connection somewhere
else. Any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, no one has really sat down and figured out which clients,
platforms and providers need proxy servers and open ports in order to function
properly. These are the settings I use on my Nokia N810 tablet's SIP client
running in Maemo

Click Advanced to see these tabs:

Connection
Transport: TCP
Outgoing proxy: sip1.sipsorcery.com
Port 5060
Discover public address: yes (checked)
Keep-alive mechanism: Auto
Keep-alive frequency: 600

Authentication
I repeat my SIP Sorcery credentials here, BUT NOTE: the user id **is** case
sensitive here. I always forget but my client does not authenticate until I
match the case here.

STUN
Auto-detect STUN: yes (checked)

I don't know which OS you're running on your E71 and I don't know all of the
options that are available to you, but that's how I configured my SIP client
and it works fine that way.
