2 years ago the solution is super janky, in the command line do steam X, where x is the url, this is going to be patched very soon (ty budjmt for troubleshooting with me and also just being a cool person), but in case a similar issue comes up, that worked for me. I'm on a debian installation, but everything should work just fine
whenever I try to click the quick preview after ensuring that I do in fact have the right path to isaac, the game doesn't boot and I find in my web browser (firefox) this entered in, presumably by basement renovator:
"steam://rungameid/250900//%22--load-room%3D%2Fhome%2Fautumn876%2F.steam%2Fdebian-installation%2Fsteamapps%2Fcommon%2FThe%20Binding%20of%20Isaac%20Rebirth%2Fbasement-renovator-helper%2Finstapreview.xml%22%20--set-stage%3D1%20--set-stage-type%3D0"
breaking this apart for readability, but the game itself never launches. I'm not sure why this bug is happening, but it very possibly has to do with the compatability layer steam goes through to run repentance on linux at all.
