In random birds decent R^2 is gained as birds have distance preference which is encoded in visibility. In locust, as empirically locust can see very far, trivially large visibility is used, which now effectively removes distance to the next step considerations from the model (and so, r^2 isn't too high, and conceptually it should be much higher if we pay attention to distance). Consider adding range on top of visibility and implementing it in locust modeling.
