Please share links to interesting projects looking into supporting ActivityPub and are asking for help.

I'll start with Flarum, although it is not an official request: https://discuss.flarum.org/d/17748-federated-flarum-activitypub/4

Nextcloud is also looking for help to improve their (already mostly working) "social" app: https://help.nextcloud.com/t/testers-needed-nextcloud-social-federating-with-activitypub-and-diaspora-social-networks/42813

GNU social is also looking for help to improve their (already mostly working) ActivityPub plugin: https://www.diogo.site/projects/GNU-social/soc/2019/#todo-finish-ap-plugin

Hello, it's me from that Flarum thread! I want to get something minimally functional before I create a repo but progress is going reasonably well.

I'm leaning heavily on this work in progress library by the Pterotype project https://github.com/pterotype-project/activitypub-php Pterotype is an ActivityPub plugin for WordPress. They're currently looking for beta testers, and are in the process of refactoring the ActivityPub logic into its own library.

I've made my repo. https://github.com/squeevee/flarum-ext-feddle

Hello, Thank you for your contribution to this list.

I've just added Nextcloud Social and pterotype-project/activitypub-php. But I think adding the project considering to support AP is a bit too early. I'll add the projects when they officially supports AP.

poVoq commented 5 years ago

Can we keep this open please? The idea was that potential contributors interested in AP might come across this here.

Aside from project homepages and issue trackers, and comments made on the fediverse, the SocialWG has a list of projects they hoped would implement ActivityPub and links to Issues where it's discussed. Also, there is an implementation report on ActivityPub.rocks. @Mayel from Social.coop created a web spreadsheet of AP apps and their characteristics. More projects using AP are profiled on We Distribute by Sean Tilley and his team. Alternative.to has a list of AP servers and client apps. The ActivityPub tag on GH is also a way to discover projects experimenting with AP.

Another place to find projects that federate over ActivityPub is fediverse.party . We aim to feature mature, newbie-friendly apps on our main page, but we also have a miscellaneous page that covers more experimental apps, and a wiki where we do our best to track progress on all fediverse software.

Please note that some of the apps on the main page of fediverse.party may only federated over older protocols or newer ones. As of Nov, 2019, the non-AP apps on the main page are GNU social (using only OStatus until its AP plugin is stable), Diaspora (using its own protocol only), and possibly SocialHome (originally Diaspora, AP is in the works but may or may not be rolled out). Also Hubzilla natively federates with Zot, federation with AP (and OS and Diaspora) is optional, via a plugin only available on some instances, and that only some channels choose to use. Zap (a newer Zot app), is now supporting AP natively, so hopefully this work will be backported to Hubzilla at some stage.

The links to these are fediverse.party and ActivityPub watchlist. The first link is top of search on Google and DDG when searching on 'Fediverse' and the latter is a really good, mostly up-to-date curated list (I recently joined as editor). Might be a good idea to add these to the awesome list somewhere (new section?).

BasixKOR commented 4 years ago

@aschrijver Since we added Community section recently, I think it can be done really quick. I'll add them very soon!

aschrijver commented 4 years ago

Great, thanks!

FYI. The watchlists have moved to Codeberg and part of delightful project and can be found at https://codeberg.org/fediverse

Each of the list is also generated as a Delightful Club html page:
