What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Tapping on one of the small messages right to the clock just opens an empty 
frame (e.g. dialer)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Getting the  (e.g.) dialer instead of just an empty frame

What version of the product are you using?
1.6

Which device and Android version are you experiencing this issue on?
Samsung Galaxy S3 / Android 4.3 (Stock-OTA Update from Samsung)

Are you using a custom launcher or ROM? If so, which one? Note that custom
launchers and ROMs are not supported.
Stock ROM (no Root) / Nova Launcher Prime

Please provide any additional information below.
