What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. text icon always showing 1 unread message 
2. this message it is referring to  was read and deleted a weeks a go

What is the expected output? 
- that it will start working properly and will start counting unread text 
messages correctly 

What version of the product are you using?
v1.6 

Which device and Android version are you experiencing this issue on?
Kit Kat - the latest update 

Are you using a custom launcher or ROM? If so, which one? Note that custom
launchers and ROMs are not supported.

Please provide any additional information below.
