Unnecessary honking and loud horns specially usage of hydraulic horns in overpopulated cities like Dhaka are causing serious noise pollution, which is particularly harmful to children and future generations. Despite existing rules, the problem persists due to traffic jams and weak enforcement.
• Noise pollution from unnecessary and repetitive car horns, Motorbikes, and other vehicles is rising, with loud hydraulic horns in Dhaka increasing by 15-25% since 2017.
• Children and young people are at risk of hearing loss, high blood pressure, headaches, and long-term hearing damage due to constant exposure to loud noises, according to the World Health Organization.
• Weak law enforcement, ineffective awareness campaigns, and widespread violations make it difficult to address this issue.
