A server cannot send email unless it has been configured with an email server on it, or is otherwise somehow configured to pass emails to a mail service. By default the server may well not have any way to send email. If not, an email server must be installed...
I installed sendmail and postfix (as advised by a help thread somewhere) and then changed the sendmail_path in the php.ini, then it appeared to be working but the emails are not getting received
It appears to have sent - but nothing received. Tried SMTP plugins and adding in extra headers - the lot. Stuck. Luckily we have the Contact Forms DB which means we can still access the submissions.
