Tighten up phone and tablet view for public client #80

Navigation in the tiny and small views is a little clunky: it needs tightening up and final polish.

iPads check out ok.

A big improvement will be gained by doing two things: 1) make the menu vanish again after clicking an item on the phone 2) make some of the smaller nav components larger (the "x" to clear filters, etc)
