CompoundEdit is 3/4 done, but needs to be finished, with unit test.

CompoundEdit is finished "in concept": code is written with 
thought-experiments, compiles, and doesn't break 
existing stuff, but is untested and even unused. But we need tests, of course. 
If only we had the time …

CompoundEdit is used in production. Some changes have been made. We still need 
unit tests.

More unit tests is something for a later release, possibly only an 
implementation change.
