There is a number of users reporting problems with Docear's BibTeX parser. The problem does not only relate to Mendeley's BibTeX file but also to BibTeX files from JabRef
One example BibTeX file was send on 7 August 2014, email subject "bibtex-file automatically modified by docear". The issue was further clarified in the email "Re: Forum post - Re: JabRef always loses Chinese references", 8 August 2014.
