It appears that there was an issue in the build environment during the compilation of the x86-64 MacOS binaries. The attached packaged should contain the binaries with statically-linked libraries.

Dear Bowtie2 Maintainer,
I just installed bowtie2-build of bowtie2-2.5.1-macos-x86_64 from the binary on a mac running Mac os12.6. I ran the script to test the bowtie2-build command and got the following error message:
