Heimdall won't recognize device #140

Whenever I opened heimdall, it gives me a message saying "hemdall-frontend quit unexpectedly" etc, but it opens up just fine. Then, when I go to utilities and try to detect device it again gives me that message and in heimdall, it says FRONTEND ERROR: heimdall crashed! I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300

It sounds like Heimdall Frontend is working, but Heimdall command line is crashing for some reason. Heimdall command line is queried when Heimdall Frontend starts up, in order to obtain its version, which is why you see the initial "quit unexpectedly" message.

However, I am unsure why Heimdall command line is crashing on your machine. I may be able to help you further if you give me some information. At the moment I'm not even sure what operating system your computer is running!

In addition to your OS and OS version; could you please try open a terminal (or command prompt or whatever), execute heimdall print-pit and provide the output? If you're on Windows you will need to navigate to directory heimdall.exe is in, on other OS this is not required as long as Heimdall is in your PATH (which it should be).

I'm having this same issue, FWIW, on OS X 10.7.5. Output from heimdall print-pit is "Segmentation fault: 11"

I'm having this same issue on OS X 10.6.8. Output from heimdall print-pit is "Illegal instruction"
