Add French translation

wilhelmberg commented 5 years ago

@kikislater thanks for the French translation.

I'm working on a release for QGIS LTR >=3.4 to go out next week or the week after.

Would you mind changing the PR base to qgis-v3.x and

If you don't get to it during the next two weeks I'll either try to translate myself (my French is almost non existent 🙈) or we do another release later.

Ok I will check ! What is the real meaning of hectometers ? I don't think it's a good translation in english or I don't understand meaning ... There is no such translation in french : it's a measure unit like meter or kilometer. Please make a quick definition or better understanding ;-)

wilhelmberg commented 5 years ago

Ok I will check !

That would be great, thanks.

I don't think it's a good translation in english or I don't understand meaning ...

Leo does know about it English: https://dict.leo.org/german-english/hektometer French: https://dict.leo.org/franz%C3%B6sisch-deutsch/hektometer but I must admit it's not very commonly used.

One unit equals 100 meters:

kikislater commented 5 years ago

Ok so it's a proper translation I made : hectomètre. Not commonly used but well known. But ... When I see this message :

capture du 2018-11-12 16-11-50

It's not really evident for me or may be others users.

wilhelmberg commented 5 years ago

Yeah, you are right that's not very obvious, I'll try to clarify.

In the default case (DEM available and Hectometer attributes checked in the plot dialog) the exported text file of a profile line might look like this (simplified):

Profilelength Segmentlength X-Value Y-Value dem-value Hektometer
0.00 0.00 -29055.52 237303.51 1402.43 hm 0.00
17.38 17.38 -29051.77 237286.54 1402.43 hm 0.17
34.77 34.77 -29048.02 237269.57 1402.43 hm 0.35
52.15 52.15 -29044.27 237252.59 1402.43 hm 0.52
....

When there's no DEM there aren't any height values, but information about the profile line can still be generated. So the table is the same, just without DEM information.

Makes sense?

FYI: testing this case without a DEM uncovered another regression introduced by the upgrade. If you click Qui in the dialog above you will get an error. I've put this on my list of things to fix.

Ok, should be fixed.

kikislater commented 5 years ago

Ok ! But I think it's not the proper message in that case : Plot with vector only or other message will not be better ? User will show units in output ...

wilhelmberg commented 5 years ago

I updated the translation https://github.com/BergWerkGIS/VoGIS-Profil-Tool/commit/a33400ba900562cb759fc644bbbfd5f6a4aed90a and changed the English version to

No (visible) raster layers! Create profile line attributes (hektometers) only?

I intentionally left the German version as is because that was explicitly requested by the sponsors of the plugin.

kikislater commented 5 years ago

Sounds a lot better IMO.
