@wanze - i'm stuck :/ - i think i found a pretty good solution using this uikit css class:
but i want to change the attributes of this class but the css stays the same when i'm looking at it on the browser - is this the right directory? /.rvm/gems/ruby-2.0.0-p451@global/gems/uikit-sass-rails-1.2.0/vendor/assets/stylesheets/uikit/uikit.gradient.scss
