Can you try the latest version from the hg repo? Run this in your
~/.xbmc/scripts
directory (assuming you have mercurial installed -- sudo apt-get install
mercurial)
hg clone https://mythbox.googlecode.com/hg/ mythbox
Make sure mythbox debug is set to Off (MythBox->Settings->Advanced->Debug
Logging)
and see if still have perf problems.
If you do, please turn debug back on and attach a fresh log.

Got the latest version and retried. Still the same - at least mostly.
At least I saw some covers but not always.
When starting mythbox and waiting until all covers are loaded (may take some
time) it
seems to work better (see xbmc.log.1).
If I directly try to switch to a different functionality (e.g. settings) it's
really
bad (see xbmc.log.3).
After a fresh start, it takes really long until the covers are loaded (30-60
secs I
guess) but then they pop up within 1-5 seconds - all of them... some timeout
issue?
Hope that helps. Thanks

All loading of fanart takes place in the background. The first time that the
fanart is
requested, it can take a while but after that, it is cached locally. There is
nothing
you can do about the initial time it takes even though it may be quite lengthy.
In your third log file, the performance seems to degrade significantly (27 secs
to get
a response from the mythbackend). Try running dstat in a window while running
XBMC.
It may just be that your machine does not have enought memory and is starting
to swap
a bit.

I found I had a similar issue until I added the hostname of the mythtv machine
in /etc/hosts. Being that it's on the same machine you might try to configure
mythbox to connect to the network address rather than loopback.
