In certain scenarios, trapdoors close when the redstone dust powering them activates and deactivates, instead of opening when dust activates and closing when it deactivates. To be clear, by "closed" I mean horizontal and by "open" I mean vertical, treating it like a lid.

To Reproduce
If the trapdoor is closed, activating the button will seem to do nothing.
Expected behavior I expect the trapdoor to open while the button is active, and close when it deactivates.
