I think this would be an intuitive counterpart to the existing detection range extension mechanic. Could be used in places where more precise position detection is needed but a solid block can't be used to cut the range short.

When tinted glass is placed in front of a motion sensor, it shortens the detection range to just 2 blocks - the tinted glass block itself and one block behind it.
