Ex. 1: The torch doesn't turn off and the lamp doesn't activate, even when given a block update. This also happens when the redstone torch is replaced with one of the following:
Button
Lever
Redstone torch
Pressure plate
Basket
Motion sensor
Presumably the redstone block, but I have no good way to check since it powers the block below it.
Ex. 2. The dust visually turns into a +, despite not actually being redirected, as evidenced by the side pistons not extending (even when given a block update). This happens with:
Glass & tinted glass
Ice & perma-ice
Leaves
Top and bottom slabs
Ex. 3: The dust isn't visually redirected with other transparent blocks:
Stairs
Ladders, torches, signs, paintings
Meshes & golden meshes
Pistons
Fences, fence gates, paper walls, chainlink fences, ropes
Cobwebs
Braziers
Trapdoors
Slate layers
Expected behavior
Ex. 1: I expect the torch to turn off and the lamp to activate, since dust is visually redirected into the block. Alternatively, I'd expect the dust to not be visually redirected into the block.
Ex. 2: I expect the dust to not visually change into a +.
